New Stuttgart Head-to-Head Series Partnerships
The American Academy’s Head-to-Head Series was established in 2012 to strengthen German-American ties in the state of Baden-Württemberg. With generous support from Stuttgart-based Academy donors the Holtzbrinck Publishing Group, Robert Bosch Stiftung, and Berthold Leibinger Stiftung, and from trustee Dr. Dirk Ippen, the series has brought together German and American thinkers to discuss topics ranging from global politics to the arts—including literary scholars Leland de la Durantaye and Ijoma Mangold, writers Anthony Marra and Nina Bossong, and constitutional law experts Gerhard Casper and Dieter Grimm.
The American Academy is pleased to announce that, as of spring 2017, in addition to its ongoing partnership with the Literaturhaus Stuttgart, the Head-to-Head series has expanded to include partnerships with the Deutsch-Amerikanisches Zentrum Stuttgart, a center dedicated to fostering German American relations, and the Evangelisches Bildungzentrum Hospitalhof Stuttgart, a hospital church dating back to the fifteenth century that today hosts lecture series, seminars, and exhibitions.
Upcoming Head-to-Head Series events will be with historian Kate Brown and technology-assessment expert Armin Grunwald on May 11, and digitial media theorists Wendy Chun and Nishant Shah on May 18, at the Hospitalhof. Download a PDF of the upcoming Head-to-Head Series events.
