The American Academy in Berlin launched the Richard C. Holbrooke Forum for the Study of Diplomacy and Governance on Wednesday, December 4, 2013, in New York City. An afternoon foreign-policy colloquium at Hunter College offered a preview the Forum’s forthcoming projects; a gala dinner that evening, at The Metropolitan Museum of Art, featured a conversation between philanthropist David M. Rubenstein and then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, both longtime friends and colleagues of Holbrooke’s. The Holbrooke Forum held its first working group, “Statecraft and Responsibility,” in June 2014, co-chaired by Michael Ignatieff, of the Harvard Kennedy School, and Harold Hongju Koh, of Yale University Law School.
