Liana Finck discusses her graphic novel Let There Be Light (2021), an adaptation of the Book of Genesis with a female God. Finck, a cartoonist for the New Yorker and graphic novelist, wrote the book as an exercise in finding a sense of belonging in her religion—Judaism—and to forge a somewhat irreverent mythology for herself as a female artist. Finck also discusses her most recent book, a memoir masquerading as a parenting guidebook entitled How to Baby (2024), and her in-progress, off-kilter etiquette guide, What to Do When, which will come out in 2025.
