At the Academy, Wilson is working on an architectural and cultural history of racial difference from the early years of the United States. Focusing on select buildings, institutions, and sites in the Mid-Atlantic region, “Building Race and Nation” explores how the emerging modern discourses of architecture, nationalism, and race influenced the creation of civic spaces from 1783 to 1858.
