Sandra E. Peterson is the chairman of the American Academy in Berlin.
Peterson was Group Worldwide Chairman for Johnson & Johnson and played a leading role in transforming the world’s largest healthcare company. Until October 2018, she was responsible for the company’s Consumer and Medical Devices businesses that generated over $40B in revenue, as well as global operating infrastructure, technology, supply chain, quality and health & wellness businesses. She led enterprise initiatives to spur innovation and accelerate growth and was driving Johnson & Johnson’s efforts to transform healthcare using technology and design-thinking to create breakthrough solutions for patients, consumers and providers.
Peterson was formally Chairman & CEO of Bayer Crop Science; CEO of Bayer Medical Care and held executive leadership roles at Merck-Medco; Nabisco, Whirlpool and McKinsey.
She holds a BA from Cornell and an MPA from Princeton. She is a member of the Microsoft Board of Directors and the Institute of Advanced Study. She was Chairman of Board of EcoHealth Alliance and Board member of Dun & Bradstreet. She is a Founding Member of Women Corporate Directors.
