Clarkson University Professor of History Sheila Weiss has longstanding interests in German history and human heredity and evolution, and is a specialist in the history of race science in modern Germany. After extensive research on race hygiene under the Empire, she has continued to work on its development during the Third Reich. She is the author of Race Hygiene and National Efficiency: The Eugenics of Wilhelm Schallmayer (University of California, 1987) and numerous articles on human genetics and the Third Reich. Professor Weiss is the recipient of fellowships from the Fulbright Commission, DAAD, and the Max Planck Institute’s research program on the “History of the Kaiser Wilhelm Society in the National Socialist Era.”
