Jeremy King is Professor of History at Mount Holyoke College in Massachusetts. He completed his PhD with honors at Columbia University in 1998, with a dissertation entitled “Loyalty and Polity, Nation and State. A Town in Habsburg Central Europe, 1848-1948.” King has traveled extensively and has studied numerous languages, including Czech, Hungarian, and German. He has held fellowships from, among others, Harvard and Columbia Universities, the Social Science Research Council, Mellon Foundation, National Endowment for the Humanities. During 2004-2005, King was on sabbatical as a Research Fellow of the American Council of Learned Societies.
