Howard M. Wachtel, Professor Emeritus of Economics at American University, writes about globalization in the world economy and international money, labor, and the American economy, and economic transformations in Europe. He was chair of the Department of Economics (1980-1984) and acting dean of the College of Arts and Sciences (1997-1999). From 1994-1997 he was director of American University’s Paris Semester. Wachtel has been an Academic Visitor at the London School of Economics, Cambridge University, and the Truman Institute of Hebrew University. He was the Founding Director of the Center for Israeli Studies at American University from 1998-2006. The is the author of, among others, Street of Dreams – Boulevard of Broken Hearts. Wall Street’s First Century (2003).
