Russia in Ukraine: A Panel Discussion on the Crisis

Russia’s unprovoked attack on Ukraine has brought a shattering end to more than three decades of general peace and stability in Europe. Putin’s action has raised numerous questions about his war aims and his longer-term vision for Russia and its relations with the rest of the world. It also appears to have catalysed a new sense of unity among the Western allies. This panel discussion will assess Putin’s actions and Russia’s trajectory and evaluate the Atlantic Alliance’s responses and possible next steps.

Confirmed Panelists include:

General Carter Ham, Commanding General, United States Army Europe and U.S. Africa Command

Wolfgang Ischinger, Chairman, Munich Security Conference (2008-22); former German Ambassador to the United States (1998-2001) and the United Kingdom (2006-08)

Eugene Rumer, Director and Senior Fellow, Russia and Eurasia Program, Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, and former National Intelligence Officer for Russia and Eurasia at the National Intelligence Council

Daniela Schwarzer, Executive Director, Europe and Eurasia, Open Society Foundations

Daniel Benjamin, President, American Academy in Berlin, and former Coordinator for Counterterrorism, U.S. Department of State (moderator)
