Jackie Murray is an associate professor of Classics at the University of Kentucky and at SUNY at Buffalo. She completed her BA at the University of Guelph, MA at Western University, and PhD in Classics at the University of Washington. Her research focuses on Hellenistic poetry and the reception of Classics in African American and Afro-Caribbean literature. Murray’s publications have focused primarily on the major Alexandrian poets, Apollonius of Rhodes, Callimachus of Cyrene, and Theocritus of Syracuse. She is co-president of EOS, a scholarly society dedicated to Africana receptions of the Classics, and serves on the editorial board of Classical Philology, Religion Compass, and Brill’s Research Perspectives in Classical Poetry. Murray’s scholarship has been supported by the Center for Hellenic Studies, American Academy in Rome, University of Cincinnati’s Margo Tytus Fellowship for Visiting Scholars, and National Endowment for the Humanities.
