Manfred Bischoff is the vice chairman of the American Academy in Berlin.

Bischoff is the chairman of the supervisory board of Daimler AG. He holds a PhD in economics from the University Heidelberg, and he joined Daimler-Benz AG in 1976, serving as CFO of Mercedes-Benz do Brazil in 1988. In 1989 he was appointed CFO of Daimler-Benz Aerospace AG, before becoming its CEO in 1995. Between 1995 and 2003 Bischoff was also a member of the Board of Management of Daimler-Benz AG, which later became DaimlerChrysler AG. Bischoff became chairman of EADS when it was founded, in 2000, a position he held until April 2007. He was then elected chairman of the Supervisory Board of DaimlerChrysler AG (today Daimler AG).

Bischoff is also chairman of the supervisory board of SMS GmbH and of Voith GmbH and serves as a member of the board of directors of EADS N.V. and of Unicredit S.p.A. He also has responsibilities at several nonprofit organizations.
