Lawrence Nees is Professor in the Department of Art History at the University of Delaware, where he has taught since 1978. He is the author of The Gundohinus Gospels; From Justinian to Charlemagne: European Art, 565-787: An Annotated Bibliography; A Tainted Mantle: Hercules and the Classical Tradition at the Carolingian Court; Early Medieval Art; and editor of Approaches to Early Medieval Art.
