Gideon Rose is the former editor and managing editor of Foreign Affairs. He currently serves as an adjunct senior fellow at the Council on Foreign Relations and adjunct professor of political science at Columbia University. Previously, he was the Mary and David Boies Distinguished Fellow in US Foreign Policy at the Council on Foreign Relations and held assistant editorial roles at the National Interest and the Public Interest. He has also served as associate director for Near East and South Asian Affairs at the National Security Council and deputy director of National Security Studies at the Council on Foreign Relations. The author of How Wars End (Simon & Schuster, 2010), Rose has taught American foreign policy at Princeton University and Columbia University. He holds a BA in classics from Yale University and a PhD in government from Harvard University.
