Born in Monroe, Washington, in 1940, Chuck Close studied art at the University of Washington, Seattle, and Yale University, earning an MFA in 1964. His work can be found in museums and private collections throughout the world, including The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, Tate Gallery in London, and the Art Gallery of Ontario. In 1998-99 he was the subject of a major travelling exhibition, “Chuck Close: A Retrospective,” originating at the Museum of Modern Art in New York. Close lives and works in New York City.
