New Works on Empire, Ecology, and the Nonhuman

In this talk, artist Candice Lin presents her recent installations, such as the Animal Husband (2024), Night Stone (2024-2025), alongside insights and discoveries inspired by these works. Themes of Lin’s work are cross-species relationships in relationship to colonialism and empire, mineral histories, environmental toxicity, and the speculative lives of non-human living beings. Her practice utilizes installation, drawing, video animation, and living materials and processes such as mold, mushrooms, bacteria, fermentation, and stains.
