It Was the Best of Times: The Bright Future of the Transatlantic Alliance
In this talk, Michael Kimmage explores the remarkable precedent of transatlantic cooperation since Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022. The consequences of this invasion demonstrate the many strengths of the NATO alliance and the solidity of Ukraine’s European path. Kimmage analyzes the 2024 election as a healthy referendum on key priorities in US foreign policy, looking at the opportunities for further transatlantic cooperation whether a Republican or a Democrat wins in November. Optimism may not be in fashion at the moment among those pondering the transatlantic relationship, but, Kimmage argues, a case can be made for it.
