Can the US Supreme Court Save America?
From his efforts to ban Muslims from entering the United States to his lawyers’ attempts to block pregnant teenagers in US custody from getting abortions, President Trump’s policies have landed his administration in federal court from his earliest days in office. As in the era of Richard Nixon, the Supreme Court will again have the last word on the constitutionality of the president’s actions. But, as New York Times veteran Supreme Court correspondent Linda Greenhouse asks in this talk, will this conservative Court—including the handpicked Justice Neil Gorsuch—turn out to be Trump’s enabler, or the firewall that protects the United States from an overreach of presidential power?
