Hal Hartley is the independent film producer and director of critically acclaimed films including, Henry Fool, The Book of Life, and No Such Thing. He studied at the Massachusetts College Of Art in Boston for the academic year 1977-78, then, in 1980, entered the filmmaking program of the State University of New York at Purchase and graduated in 1984. Hartley founded a new film company (Possible Films Inc.), which now possesses all of the rights to his movies. Hartley continues to write and direct his films, in addition to staging different versions of his play Soon in both Europe and America. He has taught at Harvard University’s Department of Visual and Environmental Studies, and his latest film, Meanwhile, premiered at the Camerimage festival in Bydgoszcz, Poland, in November 2011.
