Guna S. Mundheim Fellow in the Visual Arts - Class of Spring 2009


Amy Sillman is a painter who lives in Brooklyn, New York. She attended New York University, the School of Visual Arts in New York, and Bard College. She has been the recipient of numerous awards, including a Guggenheim Fellowship in 2001 and a Tiffany Foundation Grant in 1999. Her work has been shown widely and is held in numerous public collections, including the Museum of Modern Art and The Whitney Museum in New York. Sillman’s solo show “Third Person Singular,” the exhibition of a year-long project of portraiture and abstract painting, was on view at the Hirshhorn Museum in Washington, DC, and travelled to the Tang Museum at Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, New York, until January 2009. Her bibliography includes Amy Sillman/Gregg Bordowitz (A.R.T., 2007), and Amy Sillman – Work on Paper (Gregory R. Miller, 2006). Sillman also writes on painting and teaches in the MFA Programs of both Bard College and Columbia University.
