Richard von Weizsäcker Lecture
Avishai Margalit is highly regarded worldwide for his novel and cogent observations of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, the Arab Spring, and the ongoing difficulties between Islam and the West. In his lecture, Margalit will provide a fresh perspective on the societal upheavals in parts of the Middle East and Northern Africa, and bring his broader expertise on social, political, and religious philosophy to bear on issues of social justice, provide alternative scenarios with regard to recent regime changes, and address the latest protests in Israel, seeking to put the region’s various movements for change into a comprehensive framework.
