Martin Indyk is Vice President and Director of Foreign Policy at the Brookings Institute. A former ambassador to Israel and Assistant Secretary of State for Near East Affairs during the Clinton administration, Indyk helped to orchestrate the Camp David talks. His work continues to focus on the Arab-Israeli conflict. Indyk was Director of the Saban Center for Middle East Policy; US Ambassador to Israel (1995-97 and 2000-01); Assistant Secretary of State for Near East Affairs, U.S. Department of State (1997-2000); Special Assistant to the President and Senior Director for Near East and South Asian Affairs, National Security Council (1993-95); Executive Director, Washington Institute for Near East Policy; Adjunct Professor, Johns Hopkins University. He is the author of Innocent Abroad: An Intimate Account of American Peace Diplomacy in the Middle East (2009).
