Biography

Manager of Fellows Selection since August 2011, Carol Scherer brings twelve years of experience as academic director for Berlin-based study abroad programs in art and architecture, the humanities, and social sciences. She did her graduate work at the University of Chicago (M.A. in European Intellectual History), and completed a dual major at the University of Michigan’s Residential College in Western European Studies and with highest honors in German. Scherer has taught in the fields of German cultural studies, feminist theory, and the history and memory of the Holocaust at the University of Chicago and Uniwersytet Jageillonski in Krakow. Her scholarships and awards include a DAAD dissertation research grant, The Van Holst Prize in History from the University of Chicago, and a fellowship to the Summer Institute on the Holocaust and Jewish Civilization at Northwestern University.
