Head to Head in Stuttgart
The American Academy in Berlin and the Literaturhaus Stuttgart are proud to present the German-American series "Head to Head" at the Literaturhaus Stuttgart. In the series, which begins on March 5, a renowned American scholar or writer meets with the German expert of his or her choosing to discuss a topic germane to art, literature, culture, or politics. The first event in the series will see American Academy fellow Leland de la Durantaye square off with the literary critic of Die Zeit, Ijoma Mangold, on the nuances and novelties of Vladimir Nabokov's Lolita. In addition to their discussion, German actor Elmar Roloff will read excerpts from Nabokov's classic. The discussion will be moderated by Pamela Rosenberg, the Dean of Fellows and Programs at the American Academy in Berlin.
On June 18, Academy fellow and human rights specialist Karen Alter and Justice Angelika Nußberger from the European Court of Human Rights will discuss the evolution of and challenges for human rights courts in Europa and in Africa.
