Biography
Patty Chang’s often humorous performance art is a social commentary concerned with the issues of objectification of women and their representation in art history and popular culture. She is known to use video and photography in her performance pieces that often push commercial and popular female stereotypes to their extremes. Having received grants from the New York Foundation for the Arts, the Louise Comfort Tiffany Foundation, and the Rockefeller Foundation, Chang has served as resident faculty at the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture in Maine.
