Biography

Gay Talese was a reporter for The New York Times from 1956 to 1965. Since then he has written for the Times, Esquire, The New Yorker, Harper's Magazine, and other national publications. His magazine piece "Frank Sinatra Has a Cold" ("Frank Sinatra ist erkältet") has been hailed by Esquire as the best magazine piece it has published. He is the author of eleven books including The Gay Talese Reader: Portraits and Encounters (Der Talese Report) (2003), Unto the Sons (Von den V�ern auf die S�ne) (1992), Thy Neighbor's Wife (1980), Honor Thy Father (Ehre Deinen Vater) (1971), and The Kingdom and the Power (1969). His memoir, A Writer's Life, was published by Knopf in April 2006 and will be published in Germany by Knaus in 2007. He lives with his wife, Nan, in New York City.
